AXA XL Backs App-Based Cover for Art and Collectibles in Singapore
Collectors in Singapore can now buy instant all-risk cover for art, watches, jewellery and handbags through the KoverNow app, with underwriting capacity from AXA XL's Fine Art & Specie team. The partnership, which began in January 2026, is set to expand to Hong Kong.

AXA XL has put its Fine Art & Specie underwriting capacity behind KoverNow, a Singapore digital platform that sells cover for art and collectibles through a smartphone app. The tie-up means collectors in Singapore can now arrange instant all-risk insurance at the point of sale, a sharp departure from the broker-led placements that have traditionally dominated fine-art cover.
The partnership began in January 2026 with digital policies for watches, jewellery and handbags. KoverNow says it now intends to take the same model to Hong Kong, extending AXA XL's reach across the region's two main art and luxury hubs. Distribution is designed around the buying moment: KoverNow works with luxury retailers, financial institutions and auction houses so that cover can be offered alongside the purchase itself.
The company relies on its own proprietary model to establish authenticity and valuation, quoting policies on market values drawn from its own pricing data. For traditional brokers the development is one to watch. When a new collector's first specialist policy is bought through an app at the till, the broker's role in the next renewal or the growth of that collection changes, with valuation methodology becoming the key term to test.
The move fits a wider shift in the fine-art insurance market toward digitised, low-friction products for lower-value and mid-market collecting, even as high-value single works continue to be placed through specialist brokers. By lending its fine-art expertise and capacity to an app-based distributor, AXA XL is positioning itself for the segment of Asian collecting growth that is increasingly mobile-first.
The expansion to Hong Kong will put the model in the region's largest auction market, where auction houses and retailers already handle a large share of collector transactions. How readily collectors and their brokers accept algorithm-driven valuations over traditional appraisals will be the real test of the venture.
