Saudi gallery ATHR traces generations of its country's contemporary art at Art Basel Paris
Jeddah-based ATHR Gallery presents five Saudi artists at Art Basel Paris 2026, from 23 to 25 October, in a group hang spanning generations of Saudi contemporary practice, earning a spot on Artsy's best-booths list for the fair.

Jeddah gallery ATHR has brought a group presentation of Saudi contemporary art to Art Basel Paris 2026, which runs from 23 to 25 October. The booth gathers five artists whose careers span different generations: Abdulrahman AlSoliman, Ayman Yossri Daydban, Mohammed AlFaraj, Rami Farook and Sarah Abu Abdallah. Together they trace how Saudi artistic practice has developed over decades, from early modernist impulses to the work of younger practitioners.
The selection is deliberately intergenerational rather than built around a single theme or medium. AlSoliman is among the older figures in the presentation, while artists such as AlFaraj and Abu Abdallah represent more recent directions in Saudi art. By placing their works side by side, the gallery frames the country's contemporary scene as a continuous story with its own internal debates and shifts, rather than a sudden recent emergence.
The presentation has already drawn notice during the fair week. Artsy included ATHR among its ten best booths at Art Basel Paris 2026, singling out the booth for the strength of its hang. For a gallery based in Jeddah, that kind of recognition at one of the major European fairs underlines how far Saudi galleries have travelled in building an international presence.
ATHR's Paris appearance also reflects a wider moment for art from the Gulf. Saudi institutions and galleries have become increasingly visible on the international fair circuit in recent years, and the gallery's own programme in Jeddah has long championed artists working in the Kingdom. Its Paris booth offers fair visitors a compact survey of that scene, presented through the work of five artists rather than a single headline name.
