Thailand's Ministry of Culture has announced jiradej-pornpilai meemalai: BAAN NOORG as the artistic directors of the fifth Thailand Biennale, scheduled to open in Rayong in December 2027. Jiradej and Pornpilai Meemalai are mixed-media artists working across sculpture, video, photography and installation, who have previously participated in Documenta 15, the 2019 Asian Art Biennial and the 2021 Busan Sea Art Festival. They will direct through their nonprofit Baan Noorg Collaborative Arts and Culture, joined by curators Emily Chin-Jie Lee, Gesyada Siregar and Tyuki Imamura. The edition, titled 'Sin-Samudr, Turning Currents', will centre on relationships and interconnection in local and global contexts.
