Art Week NYC Unveils Inaugural Lineup: 80-Plus Galleries Join the Met, Whitney and Guggenheim for November Citywide Event
Art Week NYC, presented by Artforum, ARTnews and Art in America, has announced the 32 museums and institutions joining more than 80 galleries for its first citywide edition, running November 11–14, 2026, with the New Museum as primary institutional partner.
New York is getting its first dedicated, citywide art week. Art Week NYC has confirmed that its inaugural edition will run from November 11 to 14, 2026, pairing more than 80 participating galleries across Chelsea, Tribeca, the Lower East Side and the Upper East Side with 32 museums, nonprofits and cultural organizations announced on Friday.
The four-day event is presented by Penske Media's art titles Artforum, ARTnews and Art in America — a notable instance of competing publications co-hosting a civic-scale program. The institutional roster ranges from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum to the Studio Museum in Harlem, the Queens Museum, the International Center of Photography, the High Line and the FLAG Art Foundation, with smaller nonprofit spaces such as White Columns and Fountain House Gallery also taking part.
The New Museum serves as the primary institutional partner and will anchor a full day of public programming — 'Five Talks' — in its theater on November 14, addressing museum redesign, artists' economic conditions, artificial intelligence in studio practice and artists working in film. The talks coincide with the museum's fall exhibitions, including a major Arthur Jafa survey, Diego Marcon's first New York museum solo show and a new commission by Ho Tzu Nyen in the museum's expansion.
Programming is built around the city's gallery neighborhoods rather than a single fair venue. ARTnews and Art in America will run a Midtown hub of conversations and editor-led tours, while Artforum coordinates neighborhood-themed gallery openings, with additional programming and VIP experiences to be announced.
'Our vision for Art Week NYC began with the galleries,' said Artforum publisher Danielle McConnell, noting that galleries are where artists are discovered and careers built. City Council Speaker Julie Menin welcomed the program, saying the city's galleries and museums 'belong first and foremost to the New Yorkers who live here.'
