Stolen Alfred Lepere sculpture returned to France after 30 years
Alfred Lepere's 300-pound Faune Chasseur, stolen in 1993 and spotted during 2025 auction-house checks against the Art Loss Register, has been returned to the Musee de Picardie.

A 300-pound sculpture by Alfred Lepere, Faune Chasseur, has been returned to the Musee de Picardie more than three decades after its theft in 1993. The bronze had been illicitly transported to the United States and was identified during auction-house due diligence in July 2025, when records were checked against the Art Loss Register, triggering the restitution process.
