The Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera has opened Magnolia, a group exhibition gathering eighteen young artists who completed their studies at the academy in the past decade. Staged in the former church of San Carpoforo, now used as an academy lecture hall, the show is the third in a cycle of exhibitions marking Brera's 250th anniversary. Curator Massimo Kaufmann selected artists who are already finding gallery and museum recognition, including at the Milan Triennale and the Rome Quadriennale. The works span painting, drawing, pastel, photography, relief, installation and sound performance, reflecting the plurality of languages taught at the academy. The title nods to the Magnolia courtyard, the inner courtyard considered the beating heart of student life at Brera.
